Efficiency in a 5,934 SF General Dentistry Practice

This 5,934-square-foot general practice goes above and beyond in providing a welcoming, efficient, and comfortable practice for all. A space of this size requires careful planning to ensure every square foot is utilized efficiently while considering the functionality and user experience. A circular front office, central clinical support, and separate back team space support a well-ordered workflow and streamlined patient care.

PUBLIC ZONE

The waiting room and reception area are important to consider as they are the first point of contact for patients and will set the tone for their visit. The reception desk is centered with the entrance for immediate greeting and check-in. Comfortable seating is positioned on each side with a green wall and ceiling soffits to improve acoustics and create a textural, interesting environment. Behind reception are two check-out stations with seating across. Placing the check-outs on this hall protects the circular flow in and out of waiting from bottlenecking. Bench seating with additional moss accents creates consistency in the office.

To the left of the business office is a large consultation space equipped with a full treatment chair and delivery. This room is ideal for meeting with new patients and discussing treatment plans. It can also act as overflow treatment space in case of emergencies.

CLINICAL ZONE

On the opposite side of the consultation space is a large lab with a viewing window. While some offices may find placing the lab so close to the patient-centric zones unconventional, this acts as a marketing piece for your office. The digital technology housed within opens the conversation for the patient care this practice can provide.

Continuing further into the practice, this office houses eleven dual-entry treatment rooms. The rooms are placed in a horseshoe shape around the large central sterilization. The sterilization center is outfitted with two storage closets at either end as well as clean storage cabinets opposite the straight run of sterilization equipment. Out in the hall is a small staff workstation and cart storage. Another workstation and run of storage cabinets are tucked along the right-side hall leading back into the team space.

PRIVATE ZONE

The back of the practice is dedicated to staff needs. Providing staff with a space to take a break throughout the day with amenities helps promote a positive work environment and enhances staff retention. The lounge is zoned with multiple seating options. These tables can also be repositioned for alternative configurations conducive to an all-team huddle or additional conference or training space.

This area also includes an integrated laundry space, separate from the restrooms. This includes a stacked washer and dryer, lockers, bench seating, and additional storage.
